In celebration the approaching of Thanksgiving, this month we’d like to give thanks to Guadalupe “Lupe” Rozzi. Lupe, or Kitty as she is more commonly known, has been a member, along with her husband, John, for over 40 years! It was just being established and her friends were going to the center, so she knew about it. She has watched it blossom from a place with a few activities to the bustling center it is today. She loves to help us out. When she first started the Center was participating in a fundraiser called “Points for Profit.” She would help us gather and calculate points which were then converted into money for us. After that program went away she has been helping us by selling 50/50 tickets at our special events. However, all of her hard work isn’t contained to fundraising. She also helps out at smaller events and the special events by helping to set up, serve, or clean up. Originally from San Bernardino, she eventually met her husband John after he moved from Rhode Island. They both worked at Norton AFB. She was a supply clerk, and he worked with computers. Together they have two kids and six grandkids. Thanks Kitty for helping to keep us in the black.

With the end of the school year (except for those attending summer school), it came time to have one last hurrah before we put ours pencils and paper away. After all our instructors do for our students, we here at the center, and alot of their students, thought we should show them just how much we appreciated all that they taught this past school year. Therefore we were happy to host a Teacher\'s Appreciation party where students could show up and let their teachers know how much they care.

We even had some dignitaries including a San Bernardino City Councilman Fred Shorett, Karen Batista, the Principal for San Bernardino Adult Ed, and S.B. School Board Members Margaret Hill and Mike Gallow. After Councilman Shorett led the class in the Pledge of Allegiance, came a quick aerobics warmup led by one of our aerobics instructors, Julia Regan.

Then it came time to recognize all of our teachers, Rosetta Love, Bob Harvey, CiCi Tenney, Steve Micklas, Julia Regan, Avon Hall, Pia Escalante, Ricardo Tomboc, Tracy Johnson, Lisa Ballard, Fred Hawkins, Kim Scarcella, Rita Sicilliano, Emmett Resendez, Carla Lechuga, and Sue Herbert.

No apples were given to the teachers. Instead they were given a box of See\'s Chocolates and an HSC backpack. Of course refreshments were also given to all in attendance. We would like to give our thanks to our hard working educators, as well Jeffrey Court who sponsored the event.
